Middlesbrough face a Rumbelwoods Cup 4th Round test as First Division Manchester City come to an unbelievably foggy Ayresome Park in this early December evening in 1991. The first half was a complete farce with no one in the stadium really knowing what was happening on the pitch. The referee would have been well within his rights to have abandoned the game and probably should have but stuck to his instinct that the fog would life by the second half. Sure enough it did and Boro went on to record a great win and line up a quarter final tie with Peterborough Utd who had already knocked out Newcastle and Liverpool.
